Living Turin means having a sandwich in the historical cafè of Mulassano, one of two (the other one is “il Bicerin”, still in Turin) world’s smallest cafè. On the gilded walls, decorated by pattern of vines and grapes, by the hand of some noble craftsmen, we also notice a unique watch that had a difficult task: to determine who should pay the bill.

E poi ancora la buona tavola ed il buon vino, quei locali piccoli con le pareti alte coperte di libri antichi, le eleganti gallerie, e quel vivere così composto, mai sopra le righe. Torino è creativa, e ti veste il cancello di ferro battuto dell’imponente Palazzo Madama con lana sferruzzata, che trasforma le greche in ferro battuto in eleganti signorine un po’ demodè. Torino è un tramezzino nel locale storico di Mulassano, uno dei due locali storici (l’altro è il Bicerin, ancora a Torino) più piccoli del mondo. Sulle pareti dorate, decorate dal motivo dei tralci e dell’uva, dalla mano nobile di alcuni artigiani, non manca un singolare orologio che aveva un arduo compito: stabilire a chi toccasse pagare il conto. Come in un gioco divertente tra ragazzini, i clienti decidevano tra di loro se scegliere un numero pari o dispari. Poi pigiavano una sorta di campanello, che faceva girare vorticosamente l’unica lancetta dell’orologio intarsiato. Pari o dispari? Dispari o pari? Alla fine della sua corsa frenetica, la lancetta segnava un numero e dunque decretava chi dovesse pagare… Torino è preziosa anche quando si parla di Natale. Per tutto il mese di dicembre, è costellata da eventi da non perdere: lasciano senza fiato le colorate azioni acrobatiche degli artisti del Vertigo Cirque Carillon, che volano come figure ritagliate sullo sfondo del cielo e danzano con la grazia delle figurine di un carillon, il Calendario dell’Avvento in Piazza Castello, le Luci d’Artista lungo le vie principali della città. Tutte queste attività appartengono a sei percorsi differenti: il percorso delle tradizioni del Natale; il Percorso del Natale dei bambini; il Percorso del Natale dell’Arte; il Percorso della Spiritualità; il Percorso della città delle montagne e, infine, il Percorso del ghiaccio. Ciliegina sulla torta, la mostra “Degas. Capolavori del Musée d’Orsay. E’ la più importante esposizione che l’Italia abbia mai dedicato all’artista francese. Allora, siete pronti a partire?
